Taking the Pattern

I feel the stone beneath my feet and darkness all around
But in the Chamber Pattern flames, and calls, but makes no sound
It calls me with persistency, like blood calls out to blood
My heartbeat quickens and my eardrums vibrates with its thuds

The stone is cold beneath my feet and Pattern glows so bright
The polished Chamber walls reflect its warm, alluring light
The voice inside my head grows strong and drives away my fears
It taunts me with proximity, and asks me if I dare

The stone beneath my feet is dark but Pattern's all alight
The voice becomes a whisper, like a lover's in the night
Like silk so smooth, and velvet soft, like kisses in the dark
Invisible hands to hold my hands and guide me on my path

My blood is fire in my veins, a lure I can't resist
I watch the Pattern rise and fall, upon itself it twists
A lover's voice, a lover's touch, and all of Order's might
I raise my foot and put it down upon that band of light
